Ibiza Almond Blossom
If you want to see Ibiza at it’s best then late January into early February, I feel, is the best time. Sure, you don’t have access to all the clubs and bars out of season but you’ll benefit from the spectacle which nature delivers in abundance. Spring is definitely in the air at this time of year and aside from the wild flowers that carpet the red earth with magical displays of colour, you also have the beautiful almond blossom. A sprinkling of white in every tree. It is noticeable on the north west of the island, north of San Antonio near Santa Agnes.
Photographing the island of Ibiza is never better than in January, when the almond blossom is at its best. When the moon is full and there are clear skies, then a midnight walk through the almond trees is a treat not to be missed. I believe there are tours you can join that take you to the best parts of the island to experience this.
Photographing it is a photographers dream location, especially if you love photographing landscapes. The meadows around this area of the island are beautiful all year round. We often come here in summer, to photograph couples during the height of the wedding season. However in spring, the crowds of people have not yet arrived and the climate is very pleasant. It all bodes well for the perfect location shoot for people, wedding couples or landscape photography. Imagine the prettiest landscape, cover the meadows with almond trees in spring, add the undulating hills in the distance and the blue Mediterranean sea beyond that, and you have the perfect elements for creating powerful and engaging photographs!
Our advice to anyone would be to travel to Ibiza out of season. You’ll return year on year!
