A successful portrait sitting made possible by the loan of some exquisite clothing from Pollyanna. The clothes were designed by Rei Kawakubo from Comme des Garcons. The pose delivered by the wonderful Corinne Drewery from Swing Out Sister. Reaching the height of their fame in the 80’s pop chart, Corinne is the lead singer in the band.

Still touring in the UK and also in Japan where they are popular, Corinne took time to head to our studio for a portrait sitting. It delivered one of our strongest portrait photographs to date. Wholly down to her whacky personality and her relaxed attitude. We were able to capture this surreal pose which features in our portrait portfolio.

Portrait photography and social photography of any kind has to be approached by a photographer who can get the very best from the people he or she is photographing. If you rather not be around people, then best to try another area and specialism within the photographic field. Thankfully, sitters like Corinne Drewery only make us more comfortable with photographing people. This was the best from our shoot. Such a magical expression in her face. I’m sure we will treasure it for years to come.

Not directed in any way by us, expressions from a relaxed shoot are forthcoming but you have to be ready to capture them. Often when we photograph weddings, the very best captures come from fleeting moments. The photographer has to be ready and aware of anything that unfolds before the lens. Part of a skill set which is professional photography.
