Sanctuari de la Puig de Santa Maria
High above the ancient and beautiful town of Pollensa, on the north east of Mallorca is the sanctuari de la Puig de Santa Maria. A remote refuge and church which is only accessible on foot. The terrace views towards Port de Pollenca and Port de Alcudia are truly breathtaking and cannot be bettered by any other church on the island. Opening it’s doors under new management we were the first photographers to capture a wedding here for some time. A privilege indeed. After the climb, which can be a challenge for some, the effort will be worth it for anyone who makes it to the top. In addition to the spectacular views, you’ll have the refuge to yourself and a few others that know about this little gem. With a dozen or so rooms, you can stay here overnight if you book in advance. It is recommended that you call and not use email your email will get a late or no response. It is part of the charm of this place. It is like stepping back in time.
The accommodation is basic, as you would expect from an authentic Mallorcan refuge high on a hill. Popular for yoga retreats and meditation, this place is quiet, relaxing and truly wonderful. We look back at this wedding with great fondness and a place which will be on our places to visit when we return to the island of Mallorca.
